We’re halfway through the final season of HBO’s megachurch pastor family saga “The Righteous Gemstones,” and so far, it seems like this season is concerned with Ghosts — both Holy and inherited.
This season feels more concerned with doling out Old Testament-level retribution than previous seasons, but it still finds ways to make that retribution funny (like a pole-dancing accident), filtered through Danny McBride’s brand of Hubristic Southern Man.
Will these crazy kids finally get their comeuppance for all their misbehavin’? Or will they learn the prideful error of their ways and learn to become a functioning famiy?
